Mission Trip | Malibu, B.C.

River West Church has an incredible opportunity for the summer of 2012! We have been invited back to Malibu (a beautiful Young Life camp in British Columbia, Canada), to serve military families stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA. We are ministering to the families by facilitating the kids program and by staffing jobs that involve everything from serving in the dining hall to housekeeping.

When:
There are two opportunities to serve. You can apply to serve at both camps or just one. However, we will give priority to participants able to serve at both camps.  

Week 1: August 13th - August 19th
Week 2: August 19th - August 25th

Who:
Not only are we encouraging River West High School students to serve, but we are also opening up the opportunity to the River West Church body. Families, students and adults are encouraged to pray about this opportunity. Adults participating in this trip will be responsible for leading a group of teens in their assigned areas. Jr High students are invited to attend if their parents attend.

Travel + Costs:
The cost for the camp is $150 per person, and is the same price if you are serving for one or both weeks. However, your total cost for the trip will depend on your travel plans. If you are serving at both camps and traveling with the River West team on the chartered bus, the total cost is approximately $400-$500 ($150 for 2 weeks of camp and $250-$350 for travel expenses).  Malibu is in a very isolated location, making travel tricky. High School students who are not traveling with their own parents are required to ride the bus with the River West Team.

  • Monday-Friday, June 18th-22nd | Vacation Bible School! All students going to Malibu are required to serve at River West's VBS this summer. We are running the same program for the children at Malibu and we consider this mandatory training.
