Good Friday 2011
Welcome to our Good Friday “Tenebrae” Service. A Tenebrae Service is a “Service of Darkness”. We are going to focus on the extravagant love that God has shown us; a love that took Jesus Christ to Calvary’s cross and into death itself. Tonight, we will participate in seven “shadows”. Each shadow represents an aspect of the passion of Jesus Christ. There will be scripture, reflection, and a song of response. Each shadow will conclude with a candle being extinguished. By the end of the service, the sanctuary will be completely dark, symbolizing the death of Christ. Tonight will be a somber and reflective experience. We encourage you to personally connect with the suffering that Christ experienced on your behalf and in our place. When the service concludes, we will leave in silence and return on Resurrection Day to celebrate the victory of Christ over sin and death.
