Our World

because change is possible.

At River West Church, we believe that every follower of Christ is a full-time missionary to their culture! In other words, if you have put your faith in Christ, God is calling you to fully engage in His ongoing mission to our broken world. Sometimes this looks like walking across the street to help a neighbor in need. Then again, sometimes this looks like hopping on a plane to Honduras.

At River West Church there are a number of exciting opportunities to join Christ's mission both locally and abroad. Below you’ll find several opportunities to serve and support the global work of Christ.

Nuevo Renacer | El Salvador
For the the last seven years River West Church has supported a village in El Salvador named Nuevo Renacer through Agros International who are committed to breaking the cycle of poverty for rural families in Central America and Mexico by enabling landless communities to achieve land ownership and economic stability. The word “renacer”, in English, means “to be born again, to spring up again, to grow again” and this is exactly what God is doing in the village! God is causing hope to spring up in the lives of the villagers! We have seen willing smiles from both adults and children as we come to share in the work. Along with this, we have seen the transforming power of the Gospel as the people of Nuevo Renacer have opened their hearts and homes to teams from River West Church each spring and fall! Check out our trip blog or visit Agros International

The Micah Project | Honduras
The Micah Project is a non-profit organization which takes in young men who live on the streets of Tegucigalpa, Honduras and trains them to become Christian leaders through discipleship, formal education and opportunities to serve others who are in need. One of the ways that our church is working alongside the Micah Project is by partnering with them to build a vocational school. Through this vocational school young men will learn a trade while experiencing Gospel-centered discipleship from the Micah staff. Visit The Micah Project

Children's Outreach Ministries | Colombia
Children’s Outreach Ministries is a non-profit organization dedicated to reach out to children in Bogota, Colombia who are at a high risk of abuse and neglect. With this vision in mind, several years ago a home for thirteen girls between the ages of 5 and 12 was founded by a local church in Bogota. They call it The Beehive, due to the constant buzz of excitement and activity of its young residents. The girls come from unstable homes where they experienced abuse and/or neglect and were at high risk of sex trafficking, an enormous problem in a country plagued by poverty and warfare. Each year, a team from River West Church works and worships alongside members of the local church as they share the love of Christ with the young girls that live in The Beehive. AOET | AIDS Orphan Education Trust | Uganda
AOET believes, as we are loved and empowered by Christ through whom all things are possible, we can empower vulnerable Ugandan orphans and at-risk children to reach their full created potential—glorifying God as shining examples of His eternal hope. Beginning 15 years ago in Uganda by Ugandans, AOET is an intimate response to the impact of AIDS and poverty within their community. Programs in Child Welfare, Healthcare & Empowerment Training nourish the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each child. A focus on creating local family structures around each child provides every one with a place to call a home. Visit AOET

AFRICA NEW LIFE | RWANDA
Since 2001, Africa New Life has brought the life changing message of the Gospel to the people of Rwanda using two hands: the hand of compassion—helping to meet basic needs and give hope for the future to those living in poverty in Rwanda—and the hand of evangelism—sharing the freedom and hope found in Christ. Today, the organization has grown to more than 2,300 sponsored children, three churches, is building the first seminary in Rwanda, and reaches out to over 700 street kids each week. Visit africanewlife.org
